Non-wired Bras

A non-wired bra has no underwire — support comes from the band and the fabric instead. Wacoal Singapore stocks non-wired styles in bands 70 to 100 and cups A to F, covering everyday, seamless, full-cup, minimiser, lounge and strapless. Wire-free does not mean unsupportive: a firm band does the work either way.

Neither is better for your health. It is a comfort and shape decision. If a wire digs, that is a fit problem — usually a cup too small or a wire too narrow — not a reason to abandon wires permanently.

How should a non-wired bra fit?

The same five checks as any bra, with one difference: the band matters even more, because it is doing all the work. Fasten on the loosest hook, check it sits level front and back, and make sure only two fingers slide under it. If the band rides up at the back, go down a band size and up a cup.

Frequently asked questions

Are non-wired bras less supportive?

Not automatically. Support comes from the band, not the wire. A well-fitted non-wired bra with a firm band supports well; a loose band will not, wired or not. What a wire adds is shape and separation, not support.

Are wired bras bad for you?

There is no good evidence that underwire causes disease. A badly fitted wire causes discomfort - digging at the centre or under the arm - but that is a fit problem, usually a cup that is too small or a wire that is too narrow.

Which is better for all-day wear in Singapore?

Non-wired, for most people. There is no rigid component to press as you move or sit, and the softer construction traps less heat. Look for seamless or cooling styles as well.

Can I get a non-wired bra in a larger cup?

Yes. Wacoal's non-wired range runs to an F cup on bands up to 100, including full-cup and minimiser styles built for larger busts.

Do non-wired bras give shape?

Less definition than a wire, more than a bralette. Moulded and lightly padded non-wired cups hold a rounded shape; soft unlined cups follow your natural shape instead.

Can I sleep in a non-wired bra?

Yes, if it is comfortable and not compressing. There is no health need to wear a bra overnight, but many people find a soft non-wired style more comfortable than nothing. Wash it after every night's wear.
